Hōju is an iOS app that turns your photos and answers into a printed magazine. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. Hōju is operated by Scarl2tt LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (“we”, “us”).

What we collect

Account details: your name, email address or Sign in with Apple identifier, and the profile name and handle you choose.

Your mag content: the answers you write, the photos you add, your cover and page edits. If you make a couple mag, your partner’s answers are shared with you inside that mag only.

Order details: your shipping address and the order history of your mags.

Payments: payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number; we only receive the payment status and amount.

Basic technical data needed to run the service, such as error logs. We do not use advertising trackers and we do not sell your data.

Why we use it

To create, store and display your mags; to let your partner contribute to a shared couple mag; to print and deliver your order; to take payment; to answer you when you contact us; and to keep the service secure.

Who we share it with

Supabase hosts our database and your photos. Stripe processes payments. Our print partner Prodigi receives your print-ready magazine file and your shipping name and address to print and deliver it. These providers only process your data on our instructions. We may also disclose data where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and mags while your account exists. Order and payment records are kept as long as accounting law requires. Print files are deleted once your order has been delivered and any claim period has passed.

Your choices and rights

You can edit or delete your mags in the app, leave a shared mag, and delete your whole account from Me > Settings > Delete account, which erases your profile, mags and photos. Under UK and EU data protection law you can also ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to restrict or object to its use, by writing to contact@hoju.app. You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office or your local authority.

Age

Hōju is not intended for children under 13.
